Bilocation is the simultaneous presence of the same person in two different places. Through the supernatural gift of bilocation, Padre Pio was able to be in different places at the same time. He was able to be present and speak, listen, and live in two or more different events all at once.
It’s well known that Padre Pio never left the San Giovanni Rotondo convent once he entered there in 1918. From that day on, he never departed from there, not even for medical visits. Yet, many, many people testify that they saw him, met with him, and spoke with him in various cities around the world; even today.
Padre Pio questioned by Bishop Rossi, Inquisitor from the Holy Office, under oath, in 1921, about Bilocation, answered:
“It did happen to me to be in the presence of this or that person, in this or that place. I do not know if my mind was transported there, or what I saw was some sort of representation of the place or person. I do not know if I was there with my body, or without it.”
For example “One night I found myself at the bedside of a sick woman, Maria Massa, in San Giovanni Rotondo. I was in the convent. I think I was praying. I didn’t know her personally. She had been recommended to me.”
